The bill of materials should list every body/plating/reinforcement yarn, covered elastic, sewing yarn, silicone or alternative grip compound, pigment, embroidery thread, transfer, label, hangtag, band, hook and packaging item. “Cotton sock with silicone” cannot prevent bulk substitution.

Record relaxed dimensions, extended dimensions where appropriate, tolerances and recovery conditioning. A tight measurement is not automatically “compression.” If pressure is claimed, define instrument, circumference, position, posture, size and acceptance rather than borrowing medical hosiery language.

For a “seamless toe” claim, document what is physically absent or reduced. A linked toe can still have a join, thread ends and thickness variation; approve the inside surface by touch, appearance and wear protocol rather than promising zero seam sensation.

Control pilling, fuzzing and lint without confusing them with holes
ISO 12945-2:2020 specifies a modified Martindale route for fabric pilling, fuzzing and matting. It is not the abrasion-to-breakdown method and does not prove grip retention.

AATCC TM195 measures and classifies liquid moisture-management properties of textile fabrics. AATCC TM201 measures fabric drying rate from a prescribed water volume on a heated plate. Neither alone proves the experience of a fitted, terry, silicone-printed sock on every foot.
